

On Holi business worth Rs 60000 is expected
Delhi: According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), this year the Holi festival is expected to generate a turnover of more than Rs 60,000 crore, which is 20 per cent more than last year’s figure of Rs 50,000 crore. More than Rs 8,000 crore business is expected in Delhi alone.
The demand for Holi related items is increasing in the markets across the country, these include herbal colours and gulal to water guns, balloons, sweets, dry fruits and clothes. People are liking the products made in their country more, which is boosting the business. Traders have said that mostly white T-shirts, kurta-pyjamas and salwar suits with the slogan ‘Happy Holi’ are selling more.
Organizing Holi celebrations on a large scale is also giving impetus to economic activities. Banquet halls, farmhouses, hotels and parks are fully booked for Holi celebrations. More than 3,000 Holi milan celebrations are being organized in Delhi alone. Business is growing rapidly due to the increasing demand for venues.
The colours of this festive season of Holi are being seen in both retail and wholesale markets. Crowds of people are thronging both the markets. Shops are decorated. Sweet shops are selling a lot. There is a huge demand for Gujiya and other festive delicacies.
Apart from this, various types of pichkaris and spray gulaal are also being purchased in large numbers. The way shopping is happening in the markets at this time due to Holi, the traders are making huge profits.
